I like to pursue a career in Computer Security? (degrees to get)?
When i grow up, i want to be in a career involving computer security. I would want to do something like IT security. What would be the best degree to get in undergraduate school or Graduate school?? What should i do to advance my learning in the security side of computers??? Also if you could, can you tell me the path i should take to have a job in computer security? If you want to get into IT security, your best undergrad degree would be one in Computer Science. This is the study of all things computers – networks, software, hardware, databases, etc. IT security impacts all of those areas.
Just like any field, there are worker bees, and there is research. If you want to get into more research, you could move on to a Masters or Doctorate in this field. Though I certainly recommend you go out and get some work experience after your undergrad.
On the side, sign up for some forums, become active in the community. There is obviously a lot of information on the internet. Get a twitter account – start following some key resources in network security. Find some key companies and keep an eye on their websites for information and job openings …
