Woman throws computer monitors, scanners in outburst at airport ticket counter

Things got turbulent — well before takeoff.

A woman was caught on cellphone video going ballistic at a Mexico City International Airport ticket counter Tuesday when a Volaris airline employee informed her there was an issue with her flight reservation.

“A passenger reacted violently when she was notified that she had to complete the purchase of her flight,” Volaris said in a statement to The Post on Thursday.

“Apparently the lady had tried to make the payment with several credit cards without success, causing our fraud prevention system to issue a security alert.”

María Guadalupe, 56, is being accused of damaging equipment as well as disturbing the peace for allegedly slamming four computer monitors and four handheld barcode scanners to the ground, the Daily Mail reports.

Auxiliary Police agents placed Guadalupe in custody, according to Volaris, which noted “a reparation agreement was reached for the damages.”

The Post contacted representatives for the airport and the police for comment.

The situation apparently took off when Guadalupe allegedly asked a Volaris worker for a refund.

“If you don’t want to, don’t give me the money back. I don’t give a f—k. But that’s going to cost you,” the woman shouted in Spanish at an agent as she stood atop the airline’s baggage scale.

“Don’t give it to me. But you pay for that.”

The woman can be seen throwing computer monitors and barcode scanners to the ground.

In its statement, Volaris said its “ambassadors on site activated the corresponding security protocol with the support of the airport authority.”

The airline called the woman’s behavior “erratic and unfortunate.”

“For Volaris, the safety of its customers is of the utmost importance,” the airline’s statement read.

“For this reason, Volaris works closely with the authorities to permanently…

Global Cyber Showdown: Indian Hacktivists Strike Back, Neutralizing 10 Pakistani Embassy Websites!

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indian Hacktivist Retaliation Cripples 1 Pakistani Embassy Websites in a Global DDoS Attack!
  • Rise of the Cyber Guardians – Indian Hacking Groups Fight Back to Defend National Cyber Space!
  • Night of the Cyber Blitz – DDoS Attack Renders Government Websites Inaccessible, Disrupting Public Services!
Just as the clock struck midnight on May 18th, a high-voltage wave of cyber warfare shook the digital world. In a daring act of retaliation, Indian hacktivist group Kerela Cyber Xtractors claimed responsibility for successfully taking down a total of 10 Pakistani Embassy websites across the globe. The impacted nations included India, France, Germany, and Kazakhstan, leaving a significant imprint on the digital map.

The Silent Art of War – Understanding DDoS

For the uninitiated, a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is a malicious attempt to disrupt the normal functioning of a network, service, or website by overwhelming it with a flood of internet traffic. Imagine trying to get a sip of water from a fire hydrant. That’s how overwhelming a DDoS attack can be for a server. It is like being stuck in an ever-growing traffic jam, leading to a gridlock of services.

The Counterblow – A Call to Digital Arms

This massive online assault was not a standalone event but a counter attack. It was the Kerela Cyber Xtractors‘ robust response to the recent DDoS attack launched by a Pakistani hacktivist group, Team Insane PK, that targeted 23 Indian State Police websites.

Further expansion advanced by Counter Ransomware Initiative

Colombia, Costa Rica, and Jordan have since become part of the Counter Ransomware Initiative, which White House Deputy National Security Adviser Anne Neuberger has noted during the Ransomware Task Force event to offer collaborative opportunities in countering ransomware attacks, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future.

Since the initial Counter Ransomware Initiative summit, various countries have already begun co-leading activity pillars aimed at better addressing the threat of ransomware attacks, with Australia touted by Australian Embassy Ministry Counsellor of Home Affairs Patrick Hallinan to have spearheaded the International Counter Ransomware Task Force that disrupted the Hive ransomware operation with the assistance of Interpol in January.

Several collaboration pillars are also being worked upon by other countries, with India and Lithuania partnering on ransomware resilience plan development, the United Arab Emirates and Israel collaborating on information sharing, and the U.K. and Singapore teaming up on addressing illicit cryptocurrency use for ransomware, said Neuberger.

OIG: DHS Needs a Unified Strategy to Counter Disinformation

The Office of Inspector General (OIG) says the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) needs a unified strategy to counter disinformation campaigns.

Cyber attacks, intellectual property theft, and state-sponsored disinformation campaigns against the United States have increased significantly in recent years. DHS began internal and external coordination efforts in 2018 when former DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen established the Countering Foreign Influence Task Force to focus on election infrastructure disinformation appearing in social media. Also in 2018, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) started notifying social media platforms or appropriate law enforcement officials when voting-related disinformation appeared in social media. These early efforts were predominantly focused on disinformation campaigns that pertained to election infrastructure before also including COVID-19 bogus claims and other mis-, dis- and malinformation (MDM).

Today, internet users can be vulnerable to a wide variety of MDM and propaganda campaigns that appear in social media. False news, such as misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation are used to shape public opinion, undermine trust, amplify division, and sow discord. Mobile devices and smartphones further enable individuals and groups to rapidly share content, including disinformation and misinformation. This content may include hyperlinks to media articles and other web-based content, such as images and videos, that may have been manipulated to spread disinformation and misinformation, referred to as “deepfake” information. Deepfakes could be used to generate inflammatory content such as convincing video of U.S. military personnel engaged in war crimes intended to radicalize populations, recruit terrorists, or incite violence.

Certain countries were far more likely than others to be targeted by foreign disinformation operations. Based on publicly available information from Facebook and Twitter, the three countries most targeted by foreign actors were the United States, the United Kingdom, and Egypt. Disinformation campaigns that targeted the United States include a foreign entity offering to pay social media…
