Oklahoma casino reopens after ransomware attack

CONCHO, Okla. (KFOR) – Lucky Star officials say they will reopen the Concho location after being hacked by cyber-criminals.

The Lucky Star Casino in Concho, one of six tribal casinos in western Oklahoma was hacked and they have been closed since earlier this week.

The plan is to reopen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday according to a Facebook post by the casino.

Casino officials have not said what the hackers demanded or if they met those demands.

Other locations in Watonga, Clinton, and Canton were impacted but no word on when they plan to re-open.

The FBI has been called in on this case but cannot comment at this time.

Lucky Star Casino has unfortunately joined the growing list of government agencies, businesses, and
other casinos to be hit by a ransomware attack.
The security and confidentiality of all data are a top priority for us. Therefore, we immediately notified
federal law enforcement including the FBI.
We assessed the situation based on guidance from our insurance provider and cyber security experts.
We implemented measures to counter the attack by suspending all operations and activating our IT
professionals and external forensic cyber investigators to resolve the situation.
We apologize to our customers and partners and emphasize the need to be extra vigilant, particularly
regarding suspect communications. Our insurance company is providing credit monitoring services for
12 months.
As the investigation continues, Lucky Star Casino commits to communicating directly to impacted
customers and employees with whom we appreciate their patience as we work through this situation so
that operations can resume in the coming days

Pipeline hack update: Colonial reopens across the map, ransomware payment

Fuel tanks are seen at Colonial Pipeline Baltimore Delivery in Baltimore

Colonial Pipeline was the target of a ransomware attack that forced it to shut down operations.

Colonial Pipeline, which shut down after a ransomware attack last week, said its entire system had resumed normal operations, a development that will help relieve concerns of a gas shortage along the East Coast of the US.

In a series of tweets early Saturday, the pipeline operator said it is “delivering millions of gallons per hour” to the markets it served. The company said it delivers 100 million gallons of fuel a day.

Colonial had been closed since last Friday, when a ransomware infection was found on its computer systems. The shutdown affected the supply of gas in parts of the East Coast, with some people waiting an hour or more at filling stations or not finding gas at all. State and federal officials had warned against hoarding and panic buying that could exacerbate the problem.

The ransomware infection at Colonial highlighted the vulnerability of the country’s critical infrastructure, which has been the target of an increasing number of cyberattacks. Cities, schools and hospitals have all been hit by cybercriminals, who scramble a victim’s computers and then extort a payment to decrypt them.

Bitstamp reopens after attack shuttered exchange

Bitstamp resumed operations Friday after an attack earlier in the week resulted in the loss of 19,000 bitcoins and forced the exchange to close.

“Our team has been working day and night to rebuild and restore security to the Bitstamp site so customers can resume transacting with us quickly, safely, and confidently,” wrote CEO Nejc Kodri in a blog post on Friday announcing the return of the service.

During the shutdown, which began Monday, the company rebuilt its website, deployed new hardware, migrated its operations to Amazon Web Services and implemented multisignature transactions, a security measure designed to make stealing bitcoins more difficult.
