Off the top of my head $55K to $100K.

Why such a big range? Experience.

Most companies want experienced security analysts. These folks typically are well versed Unix, Windows and TCP/IP (among other things). This knowledge takes years to accumulate.

The low end of the salary range would be for someone that has some systems administration under their belt and is getting into security.

    Your mileage may vary.

the best security people going are also great hackers. do you qualify? if not don’t expect to hold any i.t. security job for long because some one with no knowledge of hacking is not qualified to stop hackers.
