Will McAfee Security Center protect my computer from the computer worm set to activate on April 1st?

I have McAfee and it’s supposed to have a really good virus protection, but will it protect my computer from the worm that will be released on April 1st?

There is a chance it will, just make sure to keep it updated. Personally I’ve never really liked McAfee’s virus protection, but it is still better than nothing at all

well on tv they were talking about the new virus and the only
defense against it was to keep everything in your computer updated.
personally i dont think any body knows how to stop it.

Yes. The general information about the worm is common knowledge, and all decent anti-virus programs can detect and remove it. What concerns experts is that there are a lot of people who do not run anti-virus programs and do not keep them up to date. Those people will be affected by the worm.

Usually there are two parts to a virus. One is the part that spreads the virus, and the other is the damage that the virus will do. With this virus, they know how it spreads and can block the spread or delete it. But they do not know what “damage” it will do because that part of the program is missing.

Instead, the worm is designed to contact 50,000 different Internet sites and ask for the rest of the program. Experts have no way of knowing which of those sites will have the instructions, and what the virus will be told to do. That is the reason for the higher than normal concern. Nobody knows what it will do.

But if you are running a good virus scanner like McAfee, and it is up to date, then you should not have to worry about the worm. It will be removed before April 1st by McAfee.

yes, as long as its updated, just be sure not to use flash drives as they can carry the worm as well as SD cards.
